Benvenuto al lago Maggiore,
so greets you at the Lago Maggiore.
The Lago Maggiore is fascinating that visitors feel there are added almost like the Mediterranean. In summer it drives almost everyone on the lake. Those in search of peace, found in the many side valleys numerous mountain swimming holes to splash and relax.
Lake Maggiore is the basin of glacial glacier Ticino, whose mountains are in the south of the region. On the lake there is a year-round ship traffic, a car ferry service between Intra and Laveno.
The water level of the lake is 194 m above sea level and has an area of 212 square kilometers and a length of 65 km. The width is between 2 km-up to 4.5km. The lake is 274 meters deep at its deepest point.
In Brissago on the Swiss side are the two Brissago Isles with a botanical garden. In Italy, north of Cannero Riviera are two small islands, known as Castelli di Cannero. Stresa upstream of the three Borromean Islands, Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori (also known as Isola Superiore).
